This Tuesday morning, the organization made, to the despair of many, a big announcement regarding advertising on its jersey. Beginning next season, and continuing for several years, the RBC bank logo will appear on the home jerseys of Canadiens players worn at the Bell Centre.
That was all it took for the critics to come forward on social networks. The CH will have played it smart, however, by shifting media attention to the appointment of Nick Suzuki as the 31st captain in the organization's history.
However, that didn't stop fans who were disappointed to see the club's beautiful jersey distorted by advertising from criticizing the decision. One fan even suggested a great upgrade to the CH's new sponsorship that would have helped the piece go over better.
"Bad branding negotiation for the Montreal Canadiens. They should have asked for a more integrated logo - all white or nothing. The addition of light blue + yellow is not good."
The result is simply sublime and there is no doubt that the criticism would have been much less if the CH had come to this result.
