There were several games on the menu last night in the American Hockey League. Of course, they were preparation games, because the season has not yet started. The Laval Rocket was in action against the Belleville Senators. Unfortunately, Jean-François Houle's protégés lost by a score of 5 to 3.

However, that's not what caught our attention last night. Instead, we had to look at the Pittsburgh Penguins' training camp. Former Canadiens prospect Samuel Houde took the opportunity to register three assists with his new team.

Recall that Houde was a fifth-round selection of the Canadiens in 2018. However, the organization had never offered him a contract. He thus became free as a bird in the summer of 2020. The former Chicoutimi Saguenéens finally signed a contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the American League last summer.

The 21-year-old Quebecer also recorded an assist in the first pre-season game last Thursday. He brought his point total to four with his new team.

Will he make the Habs staff regret not offering him a contract. One thing is certain, it's a very good start.
