Barring a surprise, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot will be dealt by the trade deadline on March 21. Teams will likely be scrambling to try to acquire his services.
Remember, the Habs has been very unlucky this year, especially with the positive cases of COVID-19 and multiple injuries.
This situation has led analyst Eric Macramalla to make a rather particular reflection. According to him, the Habs should hold off on the number 8 until the organization finds a partner to dance with.
It's pretty rare for a team to make this kind of decision, unless a trade is imminent. Injuries and unforeseen circumstances are part of the risk of the trade, as they say.
The tough defenseman could lose his timing and his bearings if he doesn't see action for a long period of time. Especially since this kind of defenseman, in general, takes time to find his rhythm during a season.
