In the last few hours, it was the turn of the popular Matt Drake to get involved and he made an interesting proposal.
Knowing that the Buffalo Sabres want to add experience, toughness, leadership and defensive reinforcement to the blue line, they could definitely look at the Montreal Canadiens.
Defenseman Joel Edmundson checks all their boxes.
According to some, the asking price was a 1st round pick in 2023, at the very least, but with his recent injury, that's probably gone down.
That being said, the Sabres do have a piece that the Habs are very interested in:
It's true that the Sabres have a surplus of young goalies, with the likes of Eric Comrie, Ukko Pekka-Luukkonen, Devon Levi and Erik Portillo.
Levi's name has already been linked to the Montreal Canadiens. We're talking about a promising young Quebec goalie that Kent Hughes knows very well.
As my colleague Keven Mawn mentioned, this would absolutely be the kind of deal that would benefit both organizations.
What do you say? Who says no? What would you add?
Levi, 21, is currently maintaining a .930 SV%, with four shutouts, at Northeastern University in the NCAA. His numbers are truly impressive.
