We are now less than a week away from the NHL draft that will take place at the Bell Centre and let's just say that field hockey fans will not be bored between now and July 7th with all the rumours of transactions that are circulating everywhere.

While the New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators have shown their openness to trading their first round picks, my colleague Keven Mawn of Fanadiens.com, as well as Mathis Therrien of Danslescoulisses.com, are reporting that another NHL team may also be tempted to trade their first round pick.

According to reporter Scott Powers, who covers the Chicago sports scene for The Athletic, Seattle Kraken management would like to improve the team as quickly as possible, and the team's general manager, Ron Francis, is reportedly eyeing Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat.

This would be huge!

The latter has been placed on the trade market by the team, and insider Frank Seravalli has even placed him at the top of his list of the 25 players most likely to change addresses this summer. You can check out that list by clicking here.

The Kraken holds the fourth overall pick and Francis could very well use it to try and hit a real home run in front of a packed house at the Bell Centre on July 7.

In their first-ever NHL season, the Kraken were not as successful as the Vegas Golden Knights were in their inaugural season, collecting just 27 wins, finishing 30th overall.

Let's just say that the arrival of a player like DeBrincat could allow the Kraken to become competitive faster than expected, which is good news for Seattle field hockey fans.
