On Sunday afternoon, the New York Islanders hosted the Vegas Golden Knights at their home, the UBS Arena. They lost by a score of 4-3 in a shootout, but one sequence in particular caught the eye in this game.
Former Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty threw down the gloves for a very rare fight against young Kieffer Bellows, who was fighting for the first time in his career. Bellows came to the defense of his veteran teammate Andy Greene, who had just been violently checked by Pacioretty.
Here is the sequence in question:
The fight was Pacioretty's first since December 28, 2019, when he got into a fight with the Coyotes' Lawson Crouse. He handled the circumstances very well, handing out some good rights to his young compatriot.
Pacioretty ended the game with an assist, three shots on goal and, of course, a five-minute penalty. The Knights' next game will be on Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
