For the occasion, it will be the reunion between Phillip Danault and his former teammates. Danault signed a lucrative $33 million deal this summer with the Kings while he was an unrestricted free agent.
It will also be a reunion for Tyler Toffoli who played eight seasons with the Kings. Due to the pandemic, he was not able to play against his former teammates last year as the Habs only played Canadian teams except for the Association Finals and the Stanley Cup Finals where they played the Golden Knights and the Lightning.
Toffoli was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on February 17, 2020. He only played ten games for Vancouver during the regular season due to the pandemic-related shutdown in March 2020. As a result, he was not able to face his former teammates for the first time at that time.
On the other hand, the former Kings' player is not too disoriented since he still spends his summers under the hot Californian sun. In fact, he has kept his home there.
"I have a lot of friends here. I've played with several guys who still live here. We have a great band in the summer, it's a good environment. It's easy for me to practice and skate all the time."
Hopefully Toffoli has the thought to put some money on the table to motivate his teammates. After the 4-0 win over the Sharks in San Jose, the Habs are looking for their third win of the season. It would be the first time this season that the Tricolore has won back-to-back games. Even though it's still early in the season, the urgency is growing for Dominique Ducharme's team.
