A few weeks ago, Alexandre Pratt wrote that there was a rumour circulating that Marc Bergevin could join the Los Angeles Kings after the 2021-22 campaign. Pratt indicated a few hours later that he did not believe the rumor, but it has come back to light.
In short, following the rumor of two potential meetings between Geoff Molson and Marc Bergevin last spring, the speculation that Bergevin is headed to California has resurfaced and this time it was delivered by one Larry Brooks.
Here are the words of the renowned journalist, Larry Brooks:
"Marc Bergevin, who is entering the final year of his contract as general manager in Montreal, could end up in Los Angeles next season working with Kings president Luc Robitaille!"
Logically, Molson most likely had a dialogue with Roy because of his team's rather ordinary campaign, before embarking on a long run to the Stanley Cup Finals... which probably changed the game. Unless Molson wanted to get through Bergevin's last year before hiring number 33?
This is all speculation, but there's never smoke without fire...
