Rosen, 28, spent most of the 2021-22 season in the American Hockey League with Springfield, recording 28 points (four goals, 24 assists) in 40 games.
He also played 18 regular season games and nine playoff games for the big club in St. Louis. He was surprisingly good in the playoffs.
Rosen did play big minutes for the Blues in the playoffs, especially against the Colorado Avalanche. He costs almost nothing on the payroll, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him in the mix so quickly.
The harsh reality of the National Hockey League! Rosen was on the ice for the Blues in a crucial game a few hours ago, and now he's on the shelf.
However, there could be an advantage.
If Rosen makes it through the lineup tomorrow, if he is not claimed, he will be eligible to play in the American Hockey League playoffs for the Springfield Thunderbirds (and against the Laval Rocket)
This would be a major addition for them on the blue line. Will Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens claim Rosen? Let's just say it would REALLY work for the Rocket.
Plus, Rosen is a good, affordable defenseman.
