After the draft, when the Habs finally selected Juraj Slafkovsky with the first pick, fans were hoping to see the young Slovak in the blue-white uniform at the start of the current campaign.
One thing led to another and Slaf's performances were not up to par and his confidence was at an all time low. It is really when the CH refused to loan the number 20 to Slovakia for the World Junior Championship that the grumbling started to be felt by the fans, who now demand, for the majority, to send the youngster to Laval.
According to insider Darren Dreger, that's exactly what will happen. Slafkovsky, as well as other youngsters in the organization, will be demoted to the American League, but Kent Hughes will not make a sudden move. According to him, the Tricolore DG will not send them just because the team is not doing well.
It's understandable why it's a tough decision at this point in the season. You have to send the kids to Laval to help them develop, but not break their confidence even more.
Let's trust that Kent Hughes and the staff will make the best decisions for the future of these young players.
