He wasn't the CH player with the most potential, nor the one who made the most noise, but he was effective and very useful.
After seasons of 58 points, 61 points (in 68 games) and 30 points (in 50 games), Tatar finally left the organization through the free agent market, signing with the New Jersey Devils in August 2021 for $4.5 million per year until 2023.
Acquired in the deal that sent Max Pacioretty to Las Vegas, Tatar was finally an important player in this trade, along with young star player Nick Suzuki.
Still, the loss of Tatar had an impact.
A NEW TOMAS TATAR WITH THE CH?
In a recent radio appearance, reporter David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period suggested that, to make up for the loss, Kent Hughes may have already acquired his new Tomas Tatar.
He adds that the more he thinks about it, the more Dadonov reminds him of Tatar. Plus, these are two players acquired by the CH, from the Vegas Golden Knights.
Interesting! Pagnotta seems to believe that Dadonov could have a production similar to that of Tatar. Kent Hughes could get an interesting return by trading him at the trade deadline.
When he traded Shea Weber to Las Vegas this summer, Kent Hughes could have acquired the same kind of player that Tomas Tatar was for the CH. This player is called Evgeny Dadonov.
Will Dadonov's value be sufficient between now and the next trade deadline to acquire interesting young players?
