Historically, many trades have been made in September, especially with the Montreal Canadiens, a few days before the start of training camp.
We can think of the Max Pacioretty trade and the acquisition of Nick Suzuki, the acquisition of Jake Allen, the hostile offer to Jesperi Kotkaniemi and the acquisition of Christian Dvorak...
Things are moving in September in the NHL.
Elsewhere in the league, we can also think of the monster trade between the Ottawa Sens and the San Jose Sharks, involving Erik Karlsson. That also happened in September.
In short, several players are likely to change address in the next few days/weeks, and just on that subject, Lyle Richardson (of Bleacher Report) has just published a list of the players most likely to be traded.
See the list in question:
We're pretty surprised by a few names on this list, including Jake Allen, especially considering the indefinite (but long-term) absence of Carey Price.
Still, we have to admit that we're talking about a goalie who will be an unrestricted free agent next summer, and who is playing for a rebuilding team.
It's logical to think that he will be traded, but we'll have to see! As for Dvorak, he could be used by Kent Hughes to get a young defenseman or any other piece to help him speed up the rebuild. Dvorak has the potential to be a luxury third center for a team that aspires to the big time this season. He could be the next Artturi Lehkonen on the trade market.
It'll be interesting to watch, but things are going to get busy in the NHL! Who do you think will be the next CH player to change address?
