After the magnificent ovation given to Carey Price by the Montreal Canadiens fans yesterday, we witnessed an extremely unfortunate and opposite situation in Philadelphia.
During the introduction of their players in their home opener, defenseman Ryan Ellis was booed.
What does this have to do with Carey Price?
Ellis was a star player, who was among the best defensemen in the NHL (among the best players at his position), but who may have to end his career due to a serious injury.
Also, Ellis is very frustrated and is trying to get back into the game, but without success.
It's very difficult for him mentally and he's starting to talk about it a bit publicly. His story (and his injury) is very similar to Carey Price's.
There are links to the Price story, to help Montreal Canadiens fans understand it better, but there are also links to the Shea Weber story.
As if all this wasn't enough for Ryan Ellis, he was booed by his own fans. Why was he booed? Simply because he suffered a serious, career-threatening injury. Ouch...
A big lack of class, which is being denounced by many today.

On another note, John Tortorella, their new head coach, was warmly applauded:
