Marc Bergevin appeared in a press conference to talk about his new acquisitions and the departure of Phillip Danault. He also indicated that he is not fully comfortable with his current center line, which lost a big piece in Danault. The GM indicated that he will continue to try to improve his team, whether it be through the fall market or even trades.

On the subject of Montreal's offense, all of the club's fans are copiously wishing for the return of Corey Perry to the lineup. Perry has made it clear in advance that he wants to return to the Tricolore for the upcoming campaign as he wants to continue his career. In short, all this brouhaha to emphasize that Bergevin and the Habs have made a proposal to the Perry clan. The latter is currently analyzing the whole thing.

As mentioned earlier, Perry's return is almost crucial because his leadership is unmatched by anyone else in this team, except for Shea Weber, who will be out for the entire season. It's that kind of prowess that the Montreal Canadiens need, even more than his involvement on the ice.

Also, Bergevin has made no secret of his desire to add a mobile defenseman who moves the puck well to his brigade, an element that is sorely lacking in the team, especially on the powerplay. However, he did admit how much he likes his top-4 defenseman, who has been imperial during the playoffs. He took the opportunity to praise Joel Edmundson in passing, he's such an important part of the team.

So, as another guy would say... to be continued!
