BIG TRADE: another last-minute twist and Kent Hughes has just officially announced that he will be holding a press conference
It's a busy day for the Montreal Canadiens!
Just minutes after confirming the Sean Monahan trade:
«The Canadiens acquire a 1st round pick (2024) and a conditional 3rd round pick (2027) from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Sean Monahan.» - Montreal Canadiens
We've just learned that General Manager Kent Hughes will be holding a press conference in the next few minutes.
This is an appointment you won't want to miss!
«Kent Hughes will address the media at 1 PM!» - Via Arpon Basu
He will certainly be asked to comment on his significant trade with the Winnipeg Jets.
And speaking of which, there's new information!
We've found out that the Canadiens are not retaining any salary in the trade (fortunately), and the conditional pick is a 3rd round pick in 2027...
The condition? Kent Hughes will get this third-round pick if the Winnipeg Jets win the Stanley Cup.
So, unless there's a surprise, it looks like it will only be the 1st round pick in 2024 obtained for Sean Monahan. (a 26-32nd overall pick)
More details to follow.
