BREAKING: Mike Babcock Set To Make NHL Return With Eastern Conference Team
Mike Babcock will be getting his first NHL action for the first time in nearly four years next season with an Eastern Conference team.
BREAKING: Mike Babcock Set To Make NHL Return With Eastern Conference Team
Mike Babcock was fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2019 for a toxic work environment and poor team performance. This led to him being blacklisted from the NHL for the past couple of years despite clearly being an NHL-caliber coach.
Now, an NHL team looks to be taking a chance on Babcock and all of the baggage that comes with him.
NHL insider Darren Dreger dropped the news today:
Columbus is a perfect fit for Babcock. A young team with some older stars who can be molded into a team that competes for years under Babcock's tenure. We could see something similar to what John Tortorella did in Columbus helping an underachieving team reach the playoffs and do significant damage in the playoffs towards a cup run.
Babcock has won multiple Stanley Cups in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings. While his game is a tad old school, he can mold it into one ready for the new school era.
