Placed on waivers yesterday by the Toronto Maple Leafs, forward Nicolas Aubé-Kubel has just been claimed by the Washington Capitals.
An interesting acquisition for the Caps, and a great opportunity for Aubé-Kubel, who will be able to take advantage of the numerous injuries in Washington's offense.
Aubé-Kubel, 26 and drafted 48th overall in 2014, is a 6-foot, 207-pound winger. He had a solid 22 points in 67 games last season (11 goals).
He was born in Slave Lake, but moved to Sorel-Tracy, Quebec with his mother when he was two years old.
In six games this season, Aubé-Kubel has not collected a single point. He signed a one-season, $1 million contract with the Leafs last summer.
