The World Junior Championships have not yet begun, but the tournament has already generated some controversy thanks to an overly critical Canadian airline.

Air Canada, which has often been the target of criticism from Canadian travelers, has been accused of losing ALL the equipment belonging to Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman David Jiricek, the 6th overall pick in the 2022 National Hockey League draft.

Jiricek was set to represent the Czech Republic at the World Juniors but has no equipment to use and it appears he doesn't know when he might receive it either.

NHL player agent Allan Walsh took to social media Sunday night to hammer Air Canada on the lost equipment, as well as their reaction to the loss of the equipment.

"Air Canada's customer support is a disaster, an outrageous embarrassment for a company. NHL 6th overall pick David Jiricek flew from Cleveland (AHL) to Halifax via Toronto. Many cancelled flights, now he's in Halifax for the world junior championship with no equipment, no skates, no sticks."

"The last scan of David's equipment was in Toronto. They don't know where the equipment is or when it will arrive in Halifax. Czech Republic's opening #WJC game is against Canada tomorrow. Sat on hold for 2.5 hours, then the line went dead. How about some accountability for [Air Canada] Michael Rousseau?"

You might think that Jiricek could just go to a local sporting goods store in Halifax and get some new gear? But things are a little more complicated than that. Jiricek is a large man and therefore requires custom equipment, especially skates, to play the game.

Another very embarrassing case for the controversial airline...
