Cole Caufield and Tyler Toffoli are two teammates, two friends and two "actors" who are featured in a McDonald's commercial. The two players had to learn a short text in French in the commercial, since the goal was to have a totally French-speaking commercial.
On the other hand, despite these few 101 trainings in French, the two Montreal Canadiens players don't master our language. However, it's still cool to see them strive for the cause. It brings them closer to the people!
That said, Melissa Hains, the Quebec marketing director at McDonald's, explained the process for recruiting CH players to build a commercial. It's simple, we select players who have had success the previous season, as was the case with Caufield and Toffoli.
"We've been doing advertising campaigns with Canadiens players for over 10 years. We always like to take players that stood out in the last season, like Tyler and Cole. We like the chemistry between the two. They were natural choices. It was a perfect fit for the concept," said Hains.
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of this McDonald's "commercial," featuring "Goal" and "Toff":
