Today on BPM Sports, host and former Montreal Canadiens player Georges Laraque made a big statement about the future of Rafaël Harvey-Pinard with the CH.

At least, regarding his status for next season.

Basically, according to Laraque, Harvey-Pinard will not start the year with the CH next year.

See what he had to say:

"For Harvey-Pinard, I would be very surprised if he starts in Montreal next year. We love him right now and it's super fun, right now he's playing because there's a lot of injuries. We're giving him a lot of minutes, but we agree that he's not a guy who would play in the top-6 next year.

He's a guy who would be on a power play next year, and with the Habs rebuilding and trying to build a core for the future, I don't see him being part of that core. [...]"

- Georges Laraque

Do you agree with him?

One thing is for sure, there is a lot of reaction right now, but you be the judge.

We respect his opinion 100%, but we just want to make a small clarification. It's not true that Harvey-Pinard is getting "a lot of minutes".

He currently plays 14 minutes 03 seconds, per game, on average. (9 seconds per game on the power play)

And despite this, he has 5 goals, and 6 points, in seven games, for a rate of 70 points per season.

"RHP" can therefore bring a lot to the Habs, without necessarily having to play top-6 minutes. (although he can).
