Knowing that the Montreal Canadiens currently have the first pick, it's always interesting to watch, because Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton can instantly claim the player of their choice.
And on top of that, Gorton admitted that the organization plans to use the waiver wire to improve the club.

Nicolas Beaudin
We want to focus on this last name. He is the surprise, according to many. Nicolas Beaudin is a 22 year old defenseman from Chateauguay who was drafted in the first round in 2018 (by the Chicago Blackhawks).
He has done well in the NHL, amassing 6 points in 22 games, and maintaining a +1 positive differential, which is a feat in Chicago. Beaudin has also been productive with the Drummondville Voltigeurs (125 points in his last 121 games).
Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will certainly evaluate Beaudin, but will he be claimed? To be continued!
Still, we're talking about a promising 22-year-old defenseman, a 2018 first-round pick, who surprisingly finds himself in the mix. Many experts believe that he has no business being on waivers and that he will be claimed. We will have the answer tomorrow!
