Just last week, it was indicated that the next GM of the Canadiens would be named in more or less 30 days, pushing the process to the end of December.
However, it looks like the process that will lead to the selection of the new general manager will be longer than expected, according to information filed by Renaud Lavoie.
"We will not make a decision before, somewhere in January. Is it likely to be at the end of January? I think so." - Lavoie
There will be four people involved in the process, including Bob Gainey, and then each of those individuals will come in with a list of 10, 15 or 20 people. The goal of the quartet will be to get that down to 8-10 candidates before the interviews begin.
Then, the goal will be to contact the teams for whom the candidates are working, and if the team in question accepts, the interview will take place.
During this time, Dominique Ducharme will continue to try to convince his soldiers to rally, commit and show pride. If not, the ship will continue to sink during this process.
