Possibly the most renowned expert on NHL prospects, Craig Button of TSN, has just revealed that the Montreal Canadiens really did acquire a top-6 NHL forward with the selection of Joshua Roy in 2021. Wow!
And when you consider that Roy was drafted in the 5th round, with the 150th overall pick, well, you quickly realize that it's a draft steal, especially if he actually becomes a first or second line player.
While on Tony Marinaro's podcast, Button, who obviously has no bias for the Habs, mentioned this.
This is extremely encouraging, especially coming from an impartial expert.
According to him, Joshua Roy will therefore be on the first two lines of the Montreal Canadiens for many years!
That's starting to make a good top six players!
Roy, who amassed 218 points, including 97 goals, in 111 games to finish his junior season, is becoming more and more complete and professional.
Even in the AHL, it's rare to see a forward his age amass almost a point per game. (30 points in 34 games)
The signs are there anyway for Joshua Roy and it's exciting for the future.
