We just learned that there is news about a trade involving Shea Weber. (or at least, his contract)

According to the very reputable reporter Darren Dreger, on TSN690, Shea Weber's contract was actually going to be traded to the Arizona Coyotes at the most recent trade deadline.

Here is Dreger's explanation, reported by the "NHL Watcher" account:

"The only reason Shea Weber's contract wasn't traded to Arizona is because there was paperwork to be signed and money to be poured in to make it happen. He (Dreger) expects Weber's contract to be traded to Arizona when they have more time to manage it all."

Basically, Dreger believes it would be pretty much settled already and that Shea Weber will be traded to the Coyotes this summer. That would make sense with recent statements from GM Kent Hughes.

There is a real expectation that the $7.857 million pact, for four more years, will be traded to Arizona within the next few weeks.
