The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed on a season deal worth $825,000 with Quebec forward Derick Brassard.
The Hull native will be making his ninth start in the NHL, including his seventh since 2016. He has 503 total points, including 194 goals, in 905 NHL games to date. He played 53 games with the Arizona Coyotes last year, where he had 20 points in 53 games.
There were many rumors that Marc Bergevin was looking for a third center. Derick Brassard would have been the ideal candidate for this position... Where was he all summer long? However, the Flyers are a good fit, as they are bound to be one of the powerhouses in the league this year. The presence of Alain Vigneault in Philadelphia, Brassard's former instructor with the Rangers, must have been a factor when the center chose his destination.
