Since Jeff Petry's outburst in which he indirectly criticized his head coach, many questions have been raised and a culprit is being sought to explain the Montreal Canadiens' setbacks.

TSN analyst Eric Macramalla took to Twitter on Wednesday to say that Petry's comments spoke volumes about Dominique Ducharme's system and that Ducharme was not an NHL-caliber head coach.

This tweet caused a huge reaction and several Quebec observers let their counterpart know how they felt, starting with Richard Labbé and Meeker Guerrier.

Both defended Dominique Ducharme by pointing out the conditions in which he has to do his job this season, as he has to deal with inconsistent performances from several veterans and a number of absences that is ridiculous.

Labbé and Guerrier concluded by recalling Ducharme's success in his first few months as head coach, taking his team to the Stanley Cup Final when he had a "real" team on hand.

Under the circumstances, it is obviously very difficult to say what Ducharme's true nature is, as he has had both good and bad moments since replacing Claude Julien last February. It will be interesting to see what Jeff Gorton's assessment of Ducharme's performance will be by the end of the season.
