On Saturday afternoon, Sidney Crosby took a dirty hit on Nic Dowd of the Washington Capitals. While the hit was punished, but immediately nullified by a Caps goal, the captain got off scot-free.
On Sunday night, it was the turn of the Pittsburgh Penguins' other star, Evgeni Malkin, to let his frustration show. The latter served a double-check to the face of Mark Borowiecki. The latter retreated to the bench, bloodied.
The Russian forward finally received a double minor for his action. Pittsburgh killed the penalty, but Nashville took the lead shortly after. The Pens then scored twice to win the game.
The NHL announced on Monday that Malkin will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety to discuss his actions.
