By winning the lottery last Tuesday night, the Habs will be drafting at the very top of the NHL draft, which will take place in Montreal next July.
According to many experts, it is becoming more and more obvious that center Shane Wright should be the Habs' first choice and former Habs goaltending coach Stephane Waite agrees.
In fact, Waite was on 98.5 and he added a small caveat during his interview with host Mario Langlois. He said that if the Canadiens select Wright, the organization will have to do everything possible to develop the young player and give him the best possible support.
He even added that because the Habs are rebuilding, there is no need to rush his arrival in the big league and that he could continue to learn at the junior level in order to improve next season.
"Shane Wright can change a franchise. [...] It's nice to draft well, but you have to develop too!"
That's quite a statement from the former goalie coach who still sees a player who could eventually become the face of the organization.
Could Shane Wright return to the junior level next year if the Habs ever drafted him?
Do you agree with his comments?
