Since the arrival of Carey Price with the Montreal Canadiens, several goaltenders have come to assist the undisputed number one. The first choice of the Tricolore in 2005 will start his fifteenth season in the NHL this year. There are several names that have occupied the position of auxiliary to Price over the years.
Among them, there is a certain Peter Budaj who played in the Montreal organization from 2011 to 2015. After three seasons with the big club, Budaj spent a full year in the AHL while the CH's AHL affiliate played in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The former goaltender, now 38 years old, has just landed a job with the Colorado Avalanche. However, he will not be taking Philipp Grubauer's place. This is the position of goalie development coach.
He succeeds Jean-Ian Filiatrault who left the Avalanche for a similar position with the New York Rangers. We wish Peter Budaj the best of luck in his new position. With Grubauer's departure, the task is going to be colossal for him!
