Cory Conacher played a total of 193 games in the National Hockey League (he collected 75 points), 87 of which were with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The last time he played in the NHL was with the Lightning in the 2019-20 season, and he played only four games. He then flew to Switzerland (Swiss-A League), where he managed to establish himself as one of the good players on the ice.

During the 2020-21 season, he collected a total of 36 points in 40 games with HC Lausanne and SC Berne. Conacher moved from Lausanne to Berne in the middle of the 2020-21 season. He will continue his journey with this team in 2021-22, but he will not be fit to play with the team on August 5. He has been suspended since May 5 due to a positive test for a product banned by the League.

Conacher uses insulin for health reasons, but this product is banned by the Swiss anti-doping agency and is therefore on the league's list of doping products. When he was traded from Lausanne to Bern in February 2021, his new club did not send the exemption application to the league, which led to this three-month suspension.

In the end, Conacher and his team admitted their mistake of not submitting the application in time to the league, so without grumbling, they accepted this sanction and the fine of 2500 Euros from the Swiss anti-doping agency.
