We know the rest, after six seasons in Montreal, he was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in return for Max Domi in June 2018 and since then, Galchenyuk has spent more time with movers than on the ice as he has worn the uniforms of five different teams in four seasons.
But like a cat, the former CH No. 27 seems to have nine lives and Colorado Avalanche officials sent him an invitation to their training camp that opened this week.
And it looks like the 28-year-old still has some great hockey left in him, as the following clip shows.
We see him make a beautiful pass to newcomer Evan Rodrigues on a two-on-one. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar paired Galchenyuk with Rodrigues and center Alex Newhook.
He's already starting to make some noise in Colorado, and their reporters seem excited about what they're seeing from Galchenyuk.
Could he cause a surprise and earn a spot with the Stanley Cup champions.
It's too early to tell at this point, but with the Avalanche likely to be without Gabriel Landeskog for the start of the season, that leaves a hole on the left wing and Galchenyuk could be a good insurance policy.
And as you saw in the video we showed you, he still has great hands and could be a great asset to the Avalanche.
To be continued.
