The draft is fast approaching and speculations about the CH's first overall pick are running wild. We are all waiting to see who Montreal will select between Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky or even Logan Cooley on July 7th at the Bell Centre.
As reported by NHL whistleblower Elliotte Friedman, the new CH staff is doing a great job of avoiding leaks, something that facilitates speculation...
"The Canadiens are doing a great job of protecting their thoughts on who will be first overall. I've heard Shane Wright. I've heard Juraj Slafkovsky. Someone even said, "Few people know Logan Cooley better than Montreal management." It's their job to keep everyone guessing, and so far, the Canadiens are doing just that. With one exception: there is a prevailing feeling, as Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun initially reported, that they are trying to get a second high pick. Probably a dream, but could you imagine a Bell Centre with the Canadiens picking one and two?" - Elliotte Friedman
Little tidbits of information, mostly from other NHL teams, did come to the ears of the Hockey Informant, however.
"Other than that, until we get clarity on Carey Price's future, the Canadiens will continue to test the market on some of their veterans - Christian Dvorak, Jeff Petry and possibly Josh Anderson. There are teams that believe they don't want to move Jake Allen. The Canadiens want to be more competitive, so they won't give it all away. I would be very curious to see what it would take to get Anderson. Before the deadline, there were conversations between the Senators and Canadiens about Colin White. We'll see how things play out, but it's not impossible to see White in Montreal. GM Kent Hughes was his agent." - Elliotte Friedman Can't wait for July 7 so this speculation can stop!
