One of the news of the day and which caused a lot of reactions is when the GM of the Philadelphia Flyers, Chuck Fletcher, announced that the young Quebec defenseman Samuel Morin played his last game in the NHL.

His knee gave up on him and Morin must retire at the age of 26, having played only 29 games in the NHL.

Talking about the Quebec defenseman Morin, the renowned journalist Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) made an interesting revelation.

The former 11th overall pick of the Flyers in 2013 was almost traded to the Montreal Canadiens. When former Tricolore defenseman P.K. Subban was involved in trade rumors, the Flyers were highly interested to acquire Subban.

According to Friedman, Philadelphia even made an offer to former general manager Marc Bergevin, and defenseman Samuel Morin was an important part of that offer.

As reported by our colleagues at Fanadiens.com, Bergevin ultimately decided to wait for offers from other clubs and we know the rest.

He ultimately accepted the one from the Nashville Preds (Subban vs. Shea Weber).

A decision that paid off. We don't know the full offer from the Flyers, for Subban, because Friedman only mentioned that Morin was included and was a key part of that proposal.

Weber will still have done the organization proud.
