The choice of the CH's future captain is a debate that will not end soon, and that could even continue after the announcement of the lucky one. While the majority of people think that Nick Suzuki will be chosen by the organization, others are leaning towards other options, including Georges Laraque.
During his show on the BPM Sports network on Wednesday, the former NHL player mentioned, although he would give the letter to Suzuki, that the CH organization has no other choice than to name Brendan Gallagher as the next captain of the club.
His argument is quite simple. The veteran forward has long been the heart and soul of the CH. While his offensive production will never come back to what it once was, Gallagher always gives 100% and works his butt off every game. Georges also reminds us that Gallagher sort of took over Weber's role last year in front of the media when the defenseman deserted the team. We saw him in front of the cameras when things were going badly for the team.
As we all know, number 11 wants the C on his jersey. The organization can't afford, according to Georges once again, to have their veteran sulking because he wasn't given that honor. With his hard-to-trade contract, seeing him brood all season would be very painful for everyone.
You can listen to Laraque's comments here below; always very interesting his show:
