The great Guy Lafleur has been more discreet for some time now, as he is unfortunately bothered by lung cancer.
It's been a bit under the radar, but we absolutely must highlight the very generous interview he gave to the excellent journalist Marc de Foy, of the Journal de Montréal.
Among other things, the legend opened up about the passing of his good friend Mike Bossy.
"Mike was a guy with real integrity. He played for his team, he wasn't a one-man show. He was a guy who would do anything to win. What was important to him was winning. I'm proud to have played with him on Team Canada (it was at the 1981 Canada Cup). Mike had an influence on many players. A lot of young players have been inspired by him." - Guy Lafleur
Also, Lafleur generously agreed to give an update on his own health. Unfortunately, the news is not good and we are thinking so hard about him.
Guy Lafleur admits to being in pain:
"It's rough, it's painful. My weight has dropped to 169 pounds. It doesn't make sense! I don't take medication anymore. I let go of all that at Christmas. I want to have a good quality of life. I take life as it is." - Guy Lafleur
Obviously difficult to read. Disturbing details to say the least, according to many.
We wish the legendary Blond Demon the best in this fight against this damn disease. We are sending him a huge wave of love and positive vibes.
We love you, Guy! Good luck to you!
For all the details, see here the complete article by Marc de Foy. A very interesting read that we highly recommend:
