In the last few hours, columnist Samuel Doiron (HABSolumentFan) has done a very interesting exercise, which consists of putting together a 100% Quebec lineup.
What would a Quebec team look like if we had to put one together today for a possible World Championship or Olympic Games?
See the result:
Jonathan Huberdeau - Patrice Bergeron - Anthony Duclair
David Perron - Pierre-Luc Dubois - Jonathan Marchessault
Alexis Lafrenière - Phillip Danault - Anthony Mantha
Maxime Comtois - Yanni Gourde - Anthony Beauvillier
Extra : Jonathan Drouin - Nicolas Roy - Mathieu Joseph
Defense:
Kris Letang - Thomas Chabot
Samuel Girard - Mike Matheson
David Savard - Alexandre Carrier
Extra : Marc-Edouard Vlasic - Marco Scandella
Goalies:
Marc-André Fleury
Samuel Montembault
It would certainly be interesting to see this team in action against clubs like Finland, Sweden, the United States, or even Canada.
We can probably say with confidence that this team would have what it takes to compete in a tournament with the best countries in the world, and they could win games, but they probably wouldn't have the firepower to beat powers like Canada or the United States.
We know it's not going to happen, but it's still an interesting exercise. In your opinion, is a medal attainable for "Team Quebec"?
