According to what Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reported, Marc Bergevin's next contract should be around four years, worth $3 or $4 million per season.
Renaud Lavoie has been in touch with several other NHL executives lately about how much Marc Bergevin should be paid annually per season for his next contract. The Habs have been treading water for a few years, admittedly, Marc Bergevin reached the Stanley Cup Final last year after adding a few impact players to his roster.
After losing the services of Phillip Danault, Shea Weber, Tomas Tatar and Jesperi Kotkaniemi for many reasons, Marc Bergevin could have been discouraged, but he didn't sit back. He added key players to his lineup such as Mike Hoffman, David Savard and Christian Dvorak to "replace" the elements lost during the summer.
The other managers are unanimous, Marc Bergevin will get a salary like that, whether in Montreal or elsewhere. He was a finalist for the Jim Gregory Trophy, awarded to the best GM in the NHL, on three occasions, which is likely to be put on the table during the eventual negotiations with the Canadiens.
Marc Bergevin will have no problem finding a new job if Geoff Molson wants to make another call. That would be surprising, however, as the two have obviously had a special professional bound since "Big Marc" took the office in 2012.
