In the last NHL draft, Kent Hughes surprised many by selecting Juraj Slafkovsky at number one. Slafkovsky impressed at the CH's recent development camp and many were anxious to see him in action when the World Championships resume this summer in Alberta.
However, it seems that Kent Hughes has vetoed this, as neither Slafkovsky nor Filip Mesar, who was selected at the end of the first round, will be playing for Slovakia, according to sports journalist Matej Deraj.
According to the journalist, it is almost certain that the first overall choice of the last draft will not be there. As for the one who was drafted 26th, the Canadiens would recommend him not to accept the invitation.
The Slovakian lineup will be really compromised as Simon Nemec, selected by the Devils in the second round, would also not be there.
