Two prime candidates are Mike Hoffman and Jonathan Drouin, who could really flourish with a fresh start.
Plus, there would be interest.
According to what IB THE GAMBLER reports, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes is currently receiving calls from his Los Angeles Kings general manager counterpart regarding a possible trade involving Drouin.
Regarding the source in question, it is very reliable. This site has released several big scoops on the NFL and NBA. When they come out with (rare) news about the NHL, they're sure of it.
So, the Kings can be considered to have a real interest in Drouin, and on top of that, they really have a multitude of interesting prospects:
- Quinton Byfield
- Alex Turcotte
- Gabriel Vilardi (who was once linked to the Habs)
- Tyler Madden
- Arthur Kaliyev
- Samuel Fagemo
- Jaret Anderson-Dolan
- Rasmus Kupari
- Brandt Clarke
- Jordan Spence
- Tobias Bjornfot
- J. Hughes (Kent's son)
- Francesco Pinelli
- Helge Grans
- Akil Thomas
... and we go on.
Obviously, we won't get a Quinton Byfield, for Jo Drouin, but the point is that they have so many, that they can trade one to get a more established player, with good offensive potential, like Drouin.
Do you think Drouin could join Phil Danault and Marc Bergevin in the hot California sun?
Drouin is 27 years old and is in the last year of his contract, which pays him $5.5 million per year.
In 2021-22, he had 20 points in 34 games with the CH. In total, he has 252 points in 427 games.
