The reporter's most recent information concerns forward Christian Dvorak, or rather, Dvorak's future.
The one who was acquired last September, by Marc Bergevin and following the departure of Jesperi Kotkaniemi, would be on the trade market.
It must be said that Dvorak did not have the expected start to the season. His level of play was clearly not up to his potential and on top of that, he battled several injuries.
However, when he finally returned to 100% in March, he showed the kind of player he is and the kind of player the Habs acquired on September 4th for a first and second round pick.
From mid-March on (and until the end of the season), he did very well, with 17 points in 22 games.
THE END FOR DVORAK IN MONTREAL?
Despite a strong finish to the season, as reported by our colleagues at Marqueur.com, it could be the end for Christian Dvorak with the CH.
According to what Jimmy Murphy is actually hearing, Kent Hughes is currently trying to trade Dvorak.
As a reason, he says that the partial no-trade clause (attached to Dvorak's contract) will take effect in one year. Hughes has one year to trade him more "freely".
Please note that Dvorak has three years left on his contract, worth 4.45 million per year.
With the end of the season he had, his value has increased and the Hughes/Gorton duo could take advantage of it. They have often said that they want to give themselves room to maneuver under the NHL salary cap.
So if Dvorak changes his address, expect to receive draft picks and/or a good prospect, on his rookie contract.
What kind of trade would you see happen? Do you think that after Artturi Lehkonen and Tyler Toffoli, he will be the next forward sacrificed?
