It's no surprise, but expect other big names to be traded by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton by the trade deadline of March 21.
Lavoie goes even further:
«If it hadn't been for this lower-body injury suffered on Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Montreal Canadiens defender Ben Chiarot would have already left Montreal through a trade. Possibly before Tyler Toffoli, who was shipped to Calgary Monday noon." - Renaud Lavoie
It's big! This means that the veteran defender should be traded as soon as he is back to health. (most likely within the next week)
He adds that Hughes and Gorton's intention are to make the club reflect their philosophy, they want an skilled and fast team, so they will trade the slower players. (as Chiarot)
"In my opinion, (if he was fully healthy) I'm pretty sure he would have been traded by now." - Renaud Lavoie
So it will be interesting to watch.
Lavoie concluded by mentioning that Jeff Petry's disastrous season, and his heavy contract, scares many teams right now, unfortunately for Montreal.
Update: Ben Chiarot is on the ice this morning and he's practicing with the regulars, wearing a regular jersey. So that would mean he's back to health!
Stay tuned!
