After all the ups and downs surrounding Jack Eichel, this has to be a relief for the Sabres organization, but especially for Eichel. The main interested party did not hide his joy about the transaction.
He took the opportunity to share a picture of himself on Twitter where he can be seen wearing his new team's jersey. He seems really happy to end up with a team with a lot of potential.
Robin Lehner, the Golden Knights' starting goaltender, couldn't help but express his happiness about Eichel's arrival in Vegas. They were once teammates in Buffalo.
His new head coach Peter DeBoer also threw flowers at his new star forward. He was quick to point out that Eichel is a game changer.
Eichel is currently injured, awaiting surgery to repair a damaged disc in his neck. His recovery time could be long, so it could be a while before we see Eichel's first skate with the Golden Knights, according to Vegas general manager Kelly McCrimmon.
"It's a challenge to give an exact date because this surgery has never been done before in this sport," McCrimmon said during a Zoom call about the surgery. "I keep thinking 4-5 months, 3-4 months, but I say that because I see you all picking up your pens and writing that down, but we really don't know, and I'm not trying to suggest that we do. But that may be the best estimate I can give you at this point."
