Last night, during the match-up between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers, the home team's defenseman, Ian Cole, received a penalty for a double-check.
The least we can say is that the referees were fooled by Rangers' defenseman Jacob Trouba, who went for the playoff dive.
Ian Cole only gave him a tiny double-check and he collapsed on the ice.
Result: power play New York and on top of that, the Rangers scored on that Power Play. A very frustrating result for Cole and the Canes.
Trouba took lessons from Tim Stützle.
See the result:
In the end, the Hurricanes still won, but it's still an unfortunate sequence.
