He may not play in the National Hockey League anymore, but despite his years-long absence from the top hockey league in the world, Jaromir Jagr remains one of the most popular figures in the sport.

It's hard to believe that at 50, Jagr is still playing professional hockey at an elite level. But that is exactly what is happening right now, February 15, as he celebrates his 50th birthday. Jagr continues to play for his hometown team Kladno Knights in the Extraliga, which he also manages as owner and chairman.

Jagr recently spoke about his incredible career and his longevity which is even more incredible in the sport of hockey. He didn't hesitate to talk about people who doubted his ability to continue playing the sport for such a long time.

"Well, when you're 30 and saying you're going to play until 50, some other people are laughing because they don't really know. And I knew it. I'm built differently." - Jaromir Jagr, who turns 50 on Tuesday and is in his 34th professional season

At this point, it's fair to wonder how long he can actually go on. Even this season, at 49, Jagr continues to post solid numbers with 8 goals and 11 assists for a total of 19 points in 35 games played, in addition to maintaining a +6 differential so far this season.

That he does so after playing 1,733 regular season games and 208 playoff games in the NHL at a time when the league was much more physical than it is today definitely places him in the role of a legend. alive. Mind-blowing!

With 1,921 career points, he ranks second in league history, behind Wayne Gretzky, who has 2,857 in his career. Imagine the statis of Jagr if he had not played in the KHL for three seasons (from 2008 to 2011) at his peak.
