Cayden Primeau seems to be tumbling down the goaltending chart a bit with the Montreal Canadiens. The franchise wants to give him some games with the Laval Rocket so that he can progress and become fit to regularly appear in front of the Montreal Canadiens net.
But it looks like the job is going to be harder, according to Jean-François Houle, the Rocket's head coach. For now, the Rocket's two goaltenders, Primeau and Michael McNiven, will share the task in front of the cage: "At the beginning of the season, we want to alternate McNiven and Primeau in front of the net.
It's amazing how Primeau has gone from a potential future Carey Price... to a question mark. He's calm in front of the cage, he's in control, he's square and he's technical, but his confidence level seems to be affected a bit.
Some even hint that he will never be a great number one, but rather a great 1B, or even a good auxiliary. At least that's what Eric Fichaud believes about Cayden Primeau, who pointed this out during an appearance on the JiC
television show on TVA Sports.
