Jeff Petry has been on the sidelines for a long time, suffering an upper-body injury and catching COVID-19, likely the new variant.
Petry was away from December 2nd to 13th, returning to play two games and back to the sidelines again.
A break that certainly did him good physically, but even more mentally, he who looked squarely beside his pumps since the launch of this calendar.
Two assists in 27 games and a minus-7 differential are atrocious statistics for a player of his stature...
That said, back in front of the media on Tuesday morning, we felt a more relaxed Jeff Petry, who seemed less anxious and less grumpy.
Here's what stood out from his speech: "I tried to free my head from what happened at the beginning of the season to straighten things out and play better hockey."
Petry made the void and he came back into the present, at least, in words. Now he will have to demonstrate it on the rink starting tomorrow!
