According to what Sara Civ, a reporter covering the Carolina Hurricanes for The Athletic, speculated, Jesperi Kotkaniemi has yet to arrive in Carolina. The reason? He would have complications with his work visa. The information was shared as the journalist was answering a question from a fan who wondered why KK had not arrived in Raleigh.
It's now been 10 days since Jesperi Kotkaniemi is officially a member of the Hurricanes, so obviously it's a process that's taking a long time to conclude. Kotkaniemi spent the first three seasons of his career in Canada, so he probably didn't know he'd be on the other side of the borders anytime soon.
Recall that the Hurricanes gave Kotkaniemi a one-season, $6.1 million contract through an offer sheet. Marc Bergevin did not match this "excessive" offer, a word that was used by Montreal' general manager.
