Since the beginning of the regular season, nothing is working for the Tricolore. The defense is not doing the job while the offense is unable to score two goals per game.

One of the only good news is the performance of Jonathan Drouin. The Quebecer is showing confidence on the ice, having scored two of the CH's three goals so far.

After last night's 3-1 loss to the Rangers, Drouin mentioned what was wrong with his team when they were in the enemy zone.

"We play too much on the periphery. We need to attack the inside. Tonight, for example, there were a lot of throw-ins. We didn't take advantage of them. We shoot at the net. Now we need more traffic near the goalie."

The Habs had 32 shots on goal against Igor Shesterkin, eight more than their opponents. The scoring opportunities are there, but they need to find a way to beat the opposing goalie.

According to Drouin, the CH did better on the defensive end, with fewer turnovers on Saturday night. However, it was the indiscipline that hurt the Habs, who took four penalties.

"In the first two games, we gave away too many openings in the neutral zone. Tonight, we forced the opponent to throw the puck deep into our territory. We gave away less power plays. We played the game we wanted to play, but we took too many penalties," said #92.

The head coach shares Drouin's opinion of his team's defensive performance. Ducharme is confident that the CH will find ways to win these close games.

"Except for the second goal, at five on five, we didn't give much away. We were in good position, we were quicker to kill games. We were more into our identity. We have two close losses. We're going to turn those games around on our end."

With a record of no wins and three losses, the Canadiens will look to get their first win on Tuesday when the San Jose Sharks come to town, a club the CH hasn't beaten since 2015.
