Earlier in the day, we reported that Montreal Canadiens' Quebec forward Jonathan Drouin was practicing like an extra and seems to be on the verge of being left out for the first game of the regular season.
We remained cautious, but Drouin seemed to confirm it in a press conference:
He explained that he is 100% healthy, that he could have played, but that he will continue to work to win and earn his spot.
Drouin admits he didn't have the best camp, especially with his injury and eight-month absence.
"I never really had big preseasons."
"Everything is looking good, I feel good. It's a decision I don't control."
- Jonathan Drouin
To be continued, but this is one of the first surprises of the season. It really looks like Drouin will be left out in a couple of days and trade rumors are likely to pick up.
