Another day, another disappointing performance by the Montreal Canadiens. Defeated 5-2 by the Arizona Coyotes, the second worst team in the league, Dominique Ducharme's men can only blame themselves, as their effort was not there.
In fact, Jonathan Drouin, who did pick up two assists in the loss, sent a clear message to his teammates after the game. The Quebecer defended his coach, saying that the responsibility for the loss lay solely with the players, who were not able to follow the system put in place in practice.
"It's up to the players to wake up. It's not the 'coaches', it's not the trainers, it's just the players who have to get up and start playing. The systems are good, we just need to execute them better," said the number 92.
In a situation like the one the Habs is in right now, everyone has a responsibility. However, it's true that we can't expect much more from Dominique Ducharme with a team that is decimated and unable to score goals, like the one he has on hand.
It will be interesting to see if Drouin's comments, who is one of the most productive players on the team this season, will have an impact on the level of play of his teammates. Let's hope it does, because if it doesn't, the second half of the season will be even more disappointing than the first half for fans...
